Suspended life

Screen printing on textiles, starch, silicone, and handmade ceramic chains

A textile suspended on ceramic chains made of individual links. The fabric becomes a body, covered with simplified organic forms applied through acrylic screen printing. It is a structure that hovers in emptiness, held in the air by fragile chains. The individual ceramic links are only loosely connected and may come apart or break under improper movement. Danger is present in the air. The textile is coated with a translucent layer of silicone and starch, evoking the appearance of moist skin. The work generates a tension between weight and weightlessness, strength and the potential for immediate collapse. The chain is made of brittle, fragile clay and organic material that supports the structure. Hanging from the ceiling, it has no roots and no connection to the ground. The installation resembles a being without stability or origin, a body detached from the earth, existing in a state of suspension, anxiety, and uncertainty.
